Introduction to Conference Interpreting - TRAN878

This unit introduces different modes of interpreting involved in conference interpreting, which ranges from consecutive (short and long) via whispered interpreting, to simultaneous. While enabling students to understand different skills required for each mode of interpreting involved, the unit also helps students to understand the theoretical framework for major coping strategies in dealing with different constraints in those modes of interpreting. This unit is designed as a 'taster' unit for students considering further study in conference interpreting.
