Overview and Aims of the Program Macquarie’s Graduate Certificate of Educational Studies program builds students’ capacities to make an effective contribution to the development and implementation of innovative, evidence based, solutions to problems in the specialist areas of Learning and Teaching, Information and Communication Technologies in Education, or Higher Education. Students develop their ability to access the most up to date sources of research and scholarship in their specialist area, to distil the essence of this sometimes highly technical literature, and to communicate the results effectively to both academic and non-academic audiences. These critical thinking, knowledge management and communicative capacities can serve to not only enhance our Graduates contribution to the effectiveness of the educational institutions in which they work, but also the learning of those they may teach, the capacities of their professional communities, and to lay the foundation for their own lifelong learning.

Interpersonal or social capabilities
(C) effective communication
(E) engaged and ethical local and global citizens
(A) socially and environmentally active and responsible

Personal capabilities
(J) capable of professional and personal judgement and initiative
(L) commitment to continuous learning
